Vibrant Pearl Cotton for Hand Embroidery!

I am trying to teach my- self the fine art of embroidery. I am mesmerized by highly textural needlework and have placed that on my "must learn" list. I purchased a few books on the topic and have been doing a bit of research. This is a picture of a piece taken from the book Stitch Magic -- I'm attempting to recreate something similar and will post when complete. What I love about this piece is that the artist utilized torn bits of fabric in various colors and simply a straight stitch which resulted in an amazing textural piece. I love it!

ONE LAST VACATION PICTURE.....

As we've now been home a week and it's time to get back to reality, I just thought I'd take a second and share this one last picture from our trip. This picture sums up without words why we are so drawn to Colorado -- why it's in our conversations, in our dreams and in our plans for the future. I took this photo when we were traveling along the Continental Divide -- You can click on the picture to get a better view -- one look and you can see why out West they call Colorado, "God's Country."
