We are all ONE Child...
Spinning Through the Mother Sky.
I chose this Native American Proverb as the
basis for my CQR in connection with Jude's "What If" challenge, along with the theme of connection through cycles.
I painted the sun and moon with metallic Lumiere paint on ivory silk dupioni and have chosen to let the edges ravel. Right now the elements are just tacked down, but I plan on adding quite a bit of stitching in and around the entire block.

hey, my e mail is working! nice! love the painting idea....
ReplyDeleteHi Cathie - am very smitten with the proverb you chose and love the way you are interpreting it. You did a marvelous job on the sun - thought I should especially mention that since you have revealed it is not your favorite sort of weather or celestial presence.
ReplyDeleteThat pink project isn't actually a CQR, it's just strongly associated with Jude since she provided nearly all of the fabric I used. Am actually in a bit of a frozen stage with CQR - think I may have gotten too overstimulated to think straight and now need some quiet time to regroup.
Was thinking of you yesterday as I sorted through my pile of Van Gogh experiment fabrics and threads...
You've chose a great CQR subject, how cool to use this as your motivation. The raggy sun is great and I can't wait to see how you take off with this... the Shawnee of WV are my people!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the proverb, it is beautiful and makes you ponder. The block is beautiful, also.
ReplyDeletewhat a GREAT proverb! I especially love the line, "Spinning Through the Mother Sky" - so appropriate. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the proverb Cathie and looks like you are off to a beautiful start! Will enjoy seeing where it goes from here!
ReplyDelete~xo Lisa ;-)
