I stack the backing, batting, and background fabric before arranging the bits and pieces. You'll find it all easier to work with if you give a light spray of Sulky Temporary Adhesive to your background fabric. I also adhere the backing and batting together with it. I also spray the under side of the tulle before placing it over the finished composition. Pin all the layers together and you're ready to machine quilt. Have fun!Nellie's Needleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12468773469685787840noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2428038350458198518.post-13178028870942251012008-06-01T10:58:00.000-04:002008-06-01T10:58:00.000-04:00beautiful Cathie :-) love the Van Gogh alike.also,...beautiful Cathie :-) love the Van Gogh alike.
also, you've been tagged. Almost all her quilts were landscapes, but I don't know why her technique would not work beautifully for Van Gogh.

She was on the Confetti Naturescapes episode, QLT-1128, on Simply Quilts. I have been wanting to try this, also.Jeanne Turner McBrayerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16866914039013421566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2428038350458198518.post-67505461351252449642008-05-30T04:58:00.000-04:002008-05-30T04:58:00.000-04:00Wow Cathie, you are on a roll...you do such beauti...Wow Cathie, you are on a roll...you do such beautiful work!
Your friend will be excited to recieve the iris thread painting!Noelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12937422934315871548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2428038350458198518.post-20538114764348453572008-05-30T02:05:00.000-04:002008-05-30T02:05:00.000-04:00Cathie...you are doing a beautiful job! It looks stunning...as is!

Is the show you saw on Simply Quilts the one with the beautiful oriental lady doing the little tiny bits covered in black tulle and they were the trees in the forest??? THAT was one of the most GORGEOUS pieces I've seen! Along with a few others...like Ryan McKenna, etc. Is this the one you are talking about?

I haven't tried it, but it sure is tempting! That sounds fun! It reminds me of doing a mosaic but instead of glass or tile...it's fabric!
