All the Way from Paris......

I am so excited to share with you a recent creation by my friend Andrea which now, I am thrilled to say, belongs to me! I have admired Andrea's perspective on life and art from afar for many months and am thrilled to be able to "touch" something made by her insightful and creative hands. In a lovely letter she shared with me the process she ensued to create this treasure wherein kimono silk was one of her ingredients. I want to share with you what she said on her blog with regard to that special silk:

" I bought little cuts of old japanes kimonos once in Germany, from a women who
buys them in Japan.....I like the idea that
something someone made in Japan a long time ago with craftsmenship and talent is
part of this wallhanging now. I'm honouring it.."

Thank you so much friend -- for not only do I admire and respect your artistic abilities, but your artistic "spirit," as well. You can be sure that Macrocosmos will be displayed in a place of honor in my home.

Here, is Macrocosmos.....

Thanks for visiting my blog. Nice to have you visit. So you're the Cathy who did that wonderful piece and sent to Andrea. it is beautiful. I tried to get onto your blog before but I have dial up and it takes me forever to access you from some reason. so this time I just clicked on and let it do its thing until you came up. Love your blog too. How cute your dogs are. My Boarder collie comes from herding stock thats for sure. She herds us around too. lol. Is the dark puppy full corgie? I am going to leave a site for you to see as she LOVES corgies and draws them. She is an artist and gardener but she is 90ish now. You might have heard of her but if not ..Enjoy. Her name is Tasha Tudor and she lives in Vermont an old fashioned life but is a charming artist.

Ah, you are the very fortunate giftee of a piece of Andrea's art. You are a lucky gal and smart too to think up such an exchange. I too admire her work.
I do love your sun that you sent her and thought it beautiful in every detail.
Thanks for coming by my site and admiring my things as well. Yes, that little frayed edge children's quilt was fun to make.
I will spend more time here purusing your beautiful works of art. (right now we are rushing off to gargage sales to see what treasures await us, hopefully things I can add to my art (supplies/materials). Happy Saturday!

I knew you would love Tasha Tudor. I have collected a few of her books myself and I have a video of her talking. I just love her art and gardening and animals and life. She is an amazing woman. The corgies are absolutly adorable. Yours are too. So glad you enjoyed it. It's fun sharing. ;)

Thank you for including the angled photos. They make it much easier to see the great stitching and texture. Beautiful pieces.

Nikki, the "angled" photos were taken by Andrea as her camera has that "ultra up close" lense and mine does not.
