Spring 2014 Journey to Alaska and Back.

Days 1 and 2 of our 3 week adventure:

Before our journey to Alaska began, we flew from Raleigh to San Francisco.  We gave ourselves two days to explore San Francisco.

As  I was photographing from a vacationer's standpoint and an artists perspective, I took almost 1,000 pictures in total, 1/3 of which were of San Francisco. Aside from the beauty of the landscape, I was mesmerized by the textures, and patterns of line and color - everywhere.

We spent our few days in San Francisco on land, in the air and on the water -  walking, taking open top buses and boating.

By boat we saw Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge.
Both so beautiful and very mysterious in the misty, chilly, windy weather.

Spent quite a bit of time meandering around the Warf and Pier area,
visiting some of our favorite haunts,

                                                           and making some new friends.

Took a lovely boat ride in the bay
visiting Alcatraz, going under the Bay Bridge and
and taking in the vistas.

So much  to see. Sorry we missed Haight Ashbury this time.
And while we had a really good time in San Francisco,
 we were anxious to say
good by to San Francisco and  begin our voyage.

Day 3 - we boarded the ship to Alaska.
